PHAS Video Conferencing -- VC 1

This page is about video-conferencing equipment, VC-1 acquired by the dept circa 2009-01. This unit consists of PolyComm video-conferencing gear, a 58 inch Plasma display and a wheeled stand. The equipment is semi-portable; the original idea was to use Henn 309 only, but anywhere on the 3rd Floor is possible.

Polycomm video-conferencing equipment

This is a high resolution system which provides H.323 IP for voice, video and content for small to medium sized rooms.

• HDX 7002XL Codec -- SN: 8208420B34AECN
• Eagle Eye HD camera (mounted atop display)
• Mircophone array
• Remote control for Codec - NB: sensor is in camera !!
• The unit is capable of 4 port multiport conferences, but this is a software option that we do NOT have !!
• The unit supports a 2nd monitor. We have tested this with the dept's LCD projectors but these projectors give a very dim image.
• Content from other video sources are possible. In particular video & sound from a PC can be displayed. A DVD player could be used ( not tested).
• A 2nd camera can be added.

Panasonic Display Montor

A Panasonic TH-58PH10UKA 58inch high Definition Plasma Display with builtin stereo speakers. The AV cables are connected & there is little need to move these. The current setup is using a DVI (video1 out on codec) to an SVGA cable to connect the "PC" port on the monitor. Audio is connected with a Mini TRS 3.5 to RCA cable.

Other Inputs for the monitor are:

• Slot 2: Dual HDMI inputs for connecting DVD/VCR for example
• Slot 3: Component/RGB BNC In & audio RCA LR inputs for connecting component video sources.
• Slot 1: Not used. Presumably further optional input interfaces can be installed
