| PHAS Video Conferencing -- VC 1 |
This page is about video-conferencing equipment, VC-1 acquired by the dept circa 2009-01. This unit consists of PolyCom HDX 7000 video-conferencing codec, a 58 inch Plasma display and a wheeled stand. The equipment is semi-portable; the original idea was to use Henn 309 only, but anywhere on the 3rd Floor is possible.
This equipment is available for use by anyone in the Dept. Ideally there would be a reservation system similar to the one for The LCD Projectors run out of the main Office, but until that is in place, potential users should coordinate with Gerry Grieve (2-4320).
The unit uses the encoding/decoding standards called H.323 transmitted over the Internet. The unit should seamlessly interface with video conference gear of other major vendors (Tandberg, LifeSize). At pesent we can set up point-to-point connections with remote sites & send "people" ( room views from a local camera) & "content" (video generated from an external video source like a laptop )
There is a Quick Start Guide and a PolyCom User's Guide with the cart.
