1. Installing Terminal Server:

NOTE:

Disable Windows built-in firewall.


  1. Click Start | Control Panel

  2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs

  3. Click Add/Remove Windows Components

  4. In the dialog box, select Terminal Server

  5. Follow the instructions in the Windows Components Wizard



2. Installing Terminal License Server:

NOTE:

After Terminal Server Licensing is installed, the server becomes a license server and you are asked whether you want to activate the license server. It is highly recommended that you activate the license server. A Terminal Server running on Windows Server 2003 operates for 120 days before the terminal server must discover an activated license server.

IMPORTANT:

If you do not activate the license server within 120 days, your Terminal Server will no longer operate.


  1. Click Start | Control Panel

  2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs

  3. Click Add/Remove Windows Components

  4. In the dialog box, select Terminal Server Licensing

  5. Follow the instructions in the Windows Components Wizard



3. Activating Terminal Server Licensing:

  1. Click Start | Programs | Administrative Tools | Terminal Server Licensing

  2. If the License Sever has not been activated, in the console tree, right-click the Terminal Server License Server you want to activate

  3. Click Activate Server to start the Activation Wizard

  4. In the Activation method list, select Automatic connection (recommended)

  5. Click Next

  6. Follow the instructions in the wizard



4. Installing Terminal Server Client Access Licenses (CAL):

NOTE:

To purchase Terminal Server CALs, fill in a JV form and give it to Khadija. A sample JV form is in a big binder labeled “Mercury”, which is located in Henn203C (bottom shelf, close to the sink).


  1. Click Start | Programs | Administrative Tools | Terminal Server Licensing

  2. Select the license server in the right pane

  3. Click on the Action Menu | Install | Licenses

  4. Follow the steps in the wizard for a successful installation of the CALs



5. Adding a Local User:

  1. Click Start | Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Computer Management

  2. In the left window pane, click the + sign beside “Local Users and Groups”

  3. Click Users

  4. Right-click once in the right window pane to bring up a menu

  7. When done, click the Create button

  8. Click Close

  2. Double-click RDP-Tcp

  3. Click the Permissions tab

  7. Uncheck “Drive mapping” and “COM port mapping”

  8. Click OK

  1. Start the Installation and Setup Wizard, using the the installation distribution file you have downloaded

  2. At the Setup Wizard Welcome screen, click Next

  3. When prompted, type in the software license key

  4. Click Next

  5. In the Software License Agreement window, click Yes

  6. Type name and company

  7. Click Next

  8. Select the installation location

  9. Click Next

  10. Click Next again

  11. When done, click Finish

1. Attaching LabPro Device to a NeoWare Appliance:

  1. The LabPro appliance connection is located on the right side of the interface. The sliding door found there can be moved left to reveal the serial port, or to the right to reveal the USB port.

  2. Plug the round mini-DIN end of the serial cable in the serial connection on LabPro

  3. Plug the other end of the serial cable into the serial port on the appliance



2. Creating an RDP5 (rdesktop 1.4) connection:

  1. If ezConnect (Neoware Desktop) isn't on screen, simultaneously press CTRL + ALT + END (see page 45).

  2. Select Settings | Appliance Properties | Security

  3. Check “Allow connections to be created or modified”, and click OK

  4. Type neo_nimda, and click OK

  5. Click the Add button (see page 42)

  6. In the Add Connection dialog, select Neoware RDP5 connection from the drop-down menu (see page 69), and click OK

  7. In the Enter Connection and Server dialog, type “windows” in the name field

  8. Either type “iliya” or “172.16.40.28” in the server field.

  9. Click Next

  10. In the Specify Application Information dialog, choose Desktop.

  11. Click Next

  12. In the Specify Logon Information dialog, leave them blank.

  13. Click Next

  14. In the Specify Window Options dialog, choose Full Screen for window size

  15. Select Automatic for color quality

  16. Click Next

  17. In the Select Connection Options dialog, just check “Enable Port Mapping”

  18. Click Next

  19. In the RDP Printer Selection dialog, choose “Use Print Manager Settings”.

  20. Click Next

  21. In the Startup Options dialog, leave both uncheck for now

  22. Click Finish.



3. Establishing an RDP Connection:

  1. If ezConnect (Neoware desktop) isn't on screen, simultaneously press CTRL + ALT + END (see page 43)

  2. Select the connection “windows” from the connection list

  3. Click the Connect button

  4. In the Log On to Windows dialog, enter the username and password you created on Windows 2003 Terminal Server.

  5. Click OK



4. Starting Logger Pro Software and Preparing to Collect Data:

  1. Locate the Logger Pro icon on your desktop and double-click on it; or use the Start menu.

  2. In the Connect to Labro dialog, choose the correct COM port

  3. Logger Pro will attempt to communicate with LabPro.

  4. If Logger Pro failed to communicate with LabPro, you will see a dialog box with the message: “Could not connect COM”.

  5. Try another COM port
