| Maximizer |
10 user license serial
number 01452100243203, floppy disk with license key is in Ron's
office (Hennings 203C) Creating new Maximizer addr book Log onto the coop server (coop-svr). Open Maximizer as the Master user and select File-New Address Book. Give it a name (in this case EngphysRobotics, and make sure the path on the bottom is set to D:\Maximizer\MaxData\AddrBks\. (As you type the name of the address book, the path will change.) You will be asked to confirm that you want Maximizer to create a new folder (do it). Next you will be prompted as to whether you want to copy preferences, templates, user-defined fields and macros to your new Address Book. You will need to answer yes if you want to copy over the users (even though you may not want the rest). The only other option is to answer no and then create new users in the new address book. ie. the users go along with the address book - there is no global users database for all the address books. When another user wants to use the newly created address book for the first time, they need to select File->New Address Book. They will get a prompt asking if they want to use the existing files - they need to answer Yes. That should be it. |

| paradox | I have set up a share on the
coop-svr machine called FTP.
It contains the paradox install stuff as well as a directory for
paradox
updates that need to be installed. I found paradox would complain
when
doing the install, something about the temp filesystem. My
workaround
was to use a floppy drive and issue the command set TEMP=A:\TEMP and
then
to run setup. Any local partition or network drive that is not
too
large will also work (e.g. connect X: drive to c:\ada\c$; set
TEMP=X:\TEMP;
run setup). After paradox is installed, you need to set up the temp dir and the lock files in the configuration as well as the data dir. Check one of the other machines and I think it should be fairly obvious how to do it. I usually temporarily put the user for whom I am doing this in the administrators group and then do all the installs. Just remember to take them out later. By convention, here are the drive assignments we normally make: E: Coop F: Coopdata G: Cooplock |
