Install Ubuntu 12.04

  1. Installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and all updates
  2. Installed the following packages: 
    sudo apt-get install vim
  3. Remove screensaver 
    sudo rm /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-screensaver.desktop
sudo chmod 700 /usr/bin/gnome-screensaver
  4. Edit /etc/lightdm.conf file 
    [SeatDefaults]
user-session=ubuntu-2d
greeter-session=unity-greeter
allow-guest=false
greeter-show-manual-login=true
  5. Add stores user and configure it to be automatically login
  6. Add Firefox to startup application, and make the following address its homepage:
    https://secure.phas.ubc.ca/stores
  7. Configure the wireless network connect to ubcprivate automatically
  8. Remove administrator rights from stores user account
