After a reboot ada2
would not
go into graphical mode. I think this was the first reboot after i
had
run a number of updates on this machine. For future reference: Viewsonic P810 Horiz - 30-95 kHz Vert - 50-160 Hz |
Running
redhat-configure-xfree86
didn't help. I finally did an upgrade and even this didn't seem
to help!
I next tried replacing all the XFree86 modules, no luck.
Tried
re-installing kudzu, no luck. I finally re-installed the
system
(without formatting any partitions). It still wouldn't boot
into
graphical mode, but it gave a lot of errors about glibc not being the
right
version. Also, it said X was spawning too quickly. I
re-installed
the latest glibc rpm and then X immediately started. After doing the graphical login as root (map had the same problem), it complained that there was no default environment of some sort and put the main panel at the top instead of at the bottom where it had been. |
