Add the computer to EAD.ubc.ca domain 2012-03-22
User can't save document on the Desktop

Problem Description: When Anilu try to save an existing office documents, she received the '\\profiles.phas.ubc.ca\profiles\finclrk\Desktop\...xlsx'cannot found. Check your spelling, or try a different path error. see error image

Solution: Create a new profile for user finclrk

  1. Logon batta, rename the following two folders under D:\PHAS\Profiles\ folder:
    finclrk -> finclrk.old
    finclrk.V2 -> finclrk.V2.old
  2. On local computer, rename C:\Users\finclrk -> C:\Users\finclrk.old
  3. Open registry, remove finclrk profile from the ProfileList:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
  4. Restart computer, login as finclrk, a new profile will be created
  5. Copy Desktop & Documents from \\profiles\profiles\finclrk.old to \\profies\profiles\finclrk
  6. Open the file that cannot be saved before, and tested, it can be saved now
  7. Copy Favorites from C:\Users\finclrk.old to C:\Users\finclrk
  8. Copy Thunderbird & Mozilla from C:\Users\finclrk.old\AppData\Roaming to C:\Users\finclrk\AppData\Roaming
  9. Logoff finclrk and make sure the profiles are saved on the server
  10. Logon batta, check D:\PHAS\Profiles\finclrk security settings, make sure only finclrk has the full access to it
