PROBLEM:
Windows XP Pro crashed
ACTION:
1. Utilized the Windows XP Installation CD and ran "chkdsk" - found and fixed errors.
NEXT PROBLEM:
No desktop icons and taskbar after logon.
ACTION:
1. Utilized the CD again, and did repair install - desktop icons and taskbar reappeared.
ANOTHER PROBLEM:
No programs in Start -> Programs
RESOLUTION:
1. Reformated and reinstalled Windows XP Pro

1. Updated the undergrad account
a) removed Ugrad group, and added Staff group
b) replaced logon2.bat with newtonlogon.bat
On warp:
1. Updated /etc/group
a) added undergrad account to secretar group
On alpha(filesvr):
1. Changed permission on /home/newton/carlotta
a) chmod g+w -R /home/newton/carlotta
On ugcoord(in Henn 344A):
1. joined to PHAS domain
2. logged in as undergrad
a) Configured Firefox, and imported Carlotta's bookmarks
b) Configured Thunderbird, and imported Carlotta's addressbook
c) Opened Outlook, and imported Carlotta's Outlook Calendar profile

PROBLEM:
Mozilla mail client generates an error message when accessing MAJOR under UNDERGRAD@PHAS - The current command did not succeed. The mail server responded: SELECT failed...
SOLUTION:
All mail folders got moved one level down - from /home/undergrad/mail
to /home/undergrad. Possibly one misconfigured mail client.
Moved all mail folders back to /home/undergrad/mail. Tested online - OK.

PROBLEM:
Mozilla mail - After creating a folder called "...GENERAL", the folder disappeared.
SOLUTION:
Browsed - c:\documents and settings\carlotta\application data\mozilla\profiles\[profile name]\[random string].slt\[some folders]
Renamed "...GENERAL" and "...GENERAL...msf" to "GENERAL" and "GENERAL.msf", respectively.
