Getting SolidWorks / COSMOS to work through the firewall

  1. On the server (Gorgon), I needed to edit the Cosmos license file (license.dat) to specify the port number for the SRAC license daemon. This was in addition to port 7585 which specifies the port for the Flexlm license manager daemon. I used port 7586.
  2. On the firewall (FWSM) I set up a port object under TCP called SolidworksCosmos which enabled the following TCP ports: 7585-7586, 25734-25735
    I needed to use the port ranges for both or Cosmos and Solidworks respectively would not work (i.e. couldn't connect to the license server).
  3. On the client computer (lapdog), I needed to set the port used to 7586 in the Cosmos License Administrator (i.e. 7586@gorgon). I'm not sure if 7585 would have worked after I got the firewall settings correct.

  1. Install a new server.
  2. Load RHEL V5.

  2. Check webalizer installation (web stats).

After editing httpd.conf, run the apachectl configtest to test your config.
